Ritchie Road is located in what was once a quiet part of McLennan County. This two-lane rural road traverses four jurisdictions: McLennan County and the Cities of Hewitt, Waco, and Woodway. This area has exploded with residential development in the past few years, to the point that Ritchie Road can no longer safely carry the increased level of traffic. All but a one and a half mile stretch in Hewitt, Waco, and McLennan County has already been reconstructed and improved. The Waco section is approximately one mile long and the Hewitt- McLennan County section is approximately one-half mile long.
Walker Partners assisted Waco, Hewitt, and the County to establish an interlocal agreement partnership for the overall Project.
The improved Waco portion will be a four-lane roadway with curb and gutter. The Hewitt-McLennan County section will be consistent with the Waco portion near West Warren Road and transition to a width of 40 feet, matching the existing Ritchie Road pavement near Park Place Drive. As the last remaining portion to be rebuilt, these improvements will increase capacity and complete Ritchie Road.
