City of McGregor

Manhole Rehabilitation

Walker Partners was engaged by the City of McGregor to inspect and evaluate all of the City’s sanitary sewer collection system manholes to determine their overall physical condition and vulnerability to inflow and infiltration. Factors that were considered included manhole material type, ring and cover type, structural condition, and location of the manholes.

After performing inventory on over 200 manholes, Walker Partners worked alongside the City of McGregor to determine a select number of manholes that were the most susceptible to inflow or infiltration. The resulting design project included approximately 51 manholes that were identified as requiring either rehabilitation or replacement; 41 manholes were identified as needing rehabilitation (235 VF of resealing interior of manholes with resin-based liner material), and ten manholes were identified as needing to be completely removed and replaced. A number of the manholes were also identified as requiring the existing ring and cover to be replaced with a new watertight manhole ring and cover.
