The City of Bellmead’s Industrial Park is vast and underutilized. One hindrance to attracting potential industrial users is inadequate access. The main access to the Industrial Park is an old, rural roadway in poor condition. Wanting to spur economic development, the City contacted Walker Partners to reconstruct Tirey Road. The project consists of rebuilding this 19-foot wide rural roadway into a 40-foot wide rural roadway functioning as a minor collector. The roadway design is based on AASHTO and TxDOT criteria in order to provide for a safe, functional, reliable and long-lasting facility.
A drainage channel running perpendicular to Tirey Road receives runoff from the road and surrounding area. Design improvements to this channel as part of this project will allow it to convey runoff from fully developed upstream conditions with no detention.
